Silverlight 4 Training Course



The Silverlight 4 Training Course includes hands-on-labs, a video and a whitepaper designed to help you learn about the new features in Silverlight 4 focusing on three major areas: Enabling Business Application Development, Empowering Richer Experiences and Moving Beyond the Browser. Some of the new highly anticipated features include Printing, WebCam and Microphone support, custom right-click, rich text, HTML support and access to local files with trusted applications.

1. What’s New in Silverlight 4
Find out what enhancements Silverlight 4 Beta introduces! This unit contains a video introduction of Silverlight 4 and a technical whitepaper that walks through the new features in Silverlight 4 Beta
2. Rich Text Editor
This is a four-part hands-on lab that walks through the creation of a rich text editor application. First you will familiarize yourself with the project and then begin working with the new RichTextArea control. Then you will learn how to access the clipboard programmatically and print. As a final step you will explore bi-directional text support and Right-to-Left aligned text.
3. Image Browser
This is a two-part hands-on lab that walks through the creation of a multi-touch image
 browser application. First, you will implement drop target functionality to load images and create a context menu. Then you will handle multi-touch events allowing you to arrange and rotate the images.
4. Picture Browser
This is a two-part hands-on lab that walks through the creation of a picture browser application. First, you will asynchronously load images from a web server into the new ViewBox control. Then you will implement a new look and feel with implicit styles. As a final step you will implement the new mousewheel functionality to resize the images.
5. Data Validation, Binding, DataForm and DataGrid Features
This is a two-part hands-on lab that walks through many features including data validation, IDataErrorInfo and more. First you will explore the new functionality in the DataGrid including Grouping support. Then you will explore Binding to Dependency Properties, Fallback Values and String formatting.
6. Out of Browser
This is a two-part hands-on lab that walks through the creation of a trusted out of browser application and the new functionality that comes with that. You will learn how to automatically up
7. Webcam and Microphone Showcase
This is a two-part hands-on lab that walks the creation of an application that takes advantage of device integration. First you will explore hardware accelerated pixel shader effects, and then you will learn how to access a WebCam. As a final step, you will capture and print a snapshot form the WebCam.
